Wetsuit buying guide

Need a wetsuit? Where do you start?

If you’re an experienced water sports person, you likely know the drill, so no need to read on. Go straight to our extensive range of wetsuits from world leading brands O’Neill & Manera.

O’Neill & Manera offer an extensive range of wetsuits and wetsuit accessories to keep you warm and comfortable in and on the water. Wetsuits range from high end technical to more affordable. Lower price in these world leading brands does not mean lower quality. Just less of the tech.

Choosing the right wetsuit is easy if you follow a simple process. First consider your water sport and whether you’re a weekend warrior and happy with shorter sessions or a dedicated rider looking to be on or in the water for hours on end. Next consider your region, the season and the water temperature.

Once you have these considerations sorted, you will be able to narrow down the range and choose your wetsuit to suit.

Wetsuit Tech is generally giving you greater warmth and more flexibility. If you’re the dedicated rider looking for both, then the high-end technical wetsuits are for you.

If you’re the weekend warrior and riding shorter sessions, the wetsuits with less tech and lower price will suit. Or if you love the tech and want it , go for it !

Wetsuit thickness is directly related to the region, the season and the water temperature. Choose the wetsuit thickness to suit the water temps. Use the following as a general guide.

North Island

  • High Summer 1.5mm, 2/2mm 3/2mm

  • Autumn 3/2mm

  • Winter 4/3mm

  • Spring 3/2mm 4/3mm
